Angela Giakas, the lady behind lifestyle hub Sunday Chapter, travels the world seeking inspiration and adventure. Travel may be her beat, but this girl sure knows her beauty. Talking all things primping and priming, she spills the beauty advice she can’t live without. Take notes – this is how you look gorgeous while on the glow – sorry, we mean go.

Tell us about your daily skin-care routine. I'm always in a rush in the morning so I keep things simple. Firstly, I always wash my face and apply under eye patches. Next is moisturiser, with a few drops of rosehip oil. At night, I start by removing my makeup with a face wipe then finish with a micellar water to make sure my skin is really clean. A few times a week I’ll apply a face mask, followed by a thorough cleanse and night cream.

Any DIY beauty treatments you care to share?  I love a coffee body scrub - all you have to do is mix ground coffee, coconut oil, and sugar. You can find the tutorial here!

How do you practice beauty from the inside out? I try to eat as healthily as possible, especially during the week; if I over-indulge, it really shows on my skin! But the simplest and best beauty tip in the world (alongside sunscreen) is to get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation leads to premature ageing, dull skin, dark under-eye circles, dehydration, breakouts... I could go on. Also, silk pillowcases have made a HUGE difference for me. If you sleep on fabrics that aren't very soft, it can pull the skin and contribute towards wrinkles and fine lines!

How are you changing your skincare routine as you age? I've incorporated a lot more oils. I mix them with my concealer, foundation and moisturisers. I think they're amazing for anti-ageing, healthy, hydrated and glowing skin. If you're going to invest somewhere in your skincare routine, I'd say go for serums/oils.

How do you protect your skin from the sun? I also make sure my primer and/or foundation contains SPF. I try to keep out of the sun but I also apply a body moisturiser with SPF. After all, sun damage can cause skin cancer, wrinkles and premature ageing – no thank you!

What trends are coming - and going?

OUT! Excessive highlighting. Don't get me wrong, I love a good glow but metallic streaks on the cheekbones ain’t cute.

IN! Micro-blading will dominate 2017. It's an easy and effective way to get natural, fuller looking brows and lasts for so long, plus it saves so much time that you would usually spend filling in your eyebrows.
